Mumbai is the financial capital of the country and it is very difficult to obtain land for an NGO for starting its unit. It was entirely due to the efforts of Dr. Kailash, N.N. an Associate and later on Secretary of the Society who succeeded in getting a plot measuring 2758 sq. yards in Versova, Andheri West, Mumbai for establishing a Branch of the Servants of the People Society on 28.1.1965 on the eve of Birth Centenary of Lara Lajpat Rai. The land was primarily allotted to construct an Elders’ Home. The foundation stone of the four storeyed building for Balwant Rai Mehta Elder Home was laid on 6 March 1969 by Shri Y.B. Chavan, the then Chief Minister of Maharashtra.
Shri Manubhai Patel, President of the Society, is looking after the Mumbai Branch affairs as its Chairman. At present Homeopathy, Physiotherapy, Acupressure, Ayurved a , Magnet Therapy, Yoga, Su Jok Diabetic Care Centre, Personal Counselling, ECG & Pathology Test services are offered by Golden Era Care and Serve Charitable Trust.
