The Hoshiarpur Centre of the Society was started during the centenary celebrations of Punjab Kesri Lala Lajpat Rai in 1965. Smt. Lalita Shastri wife of Late Prime Minister of India Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri was invited to grace this occasion.
Team of Founder Members:-
The founder members of the local advisory committee were men of high devotion, dignitary and sacrifice. Particularly Late Pt. Durga Dass, founder chairman, was a great freedom fighter, famously known as Gandhi of Doaba. Amongst the founder members of the then Local Advisory Committee of the Centre were Ch. Amar Singh, Ex Deputy Chief Minister of Punjab, Lala Som Raj Sareen, Bank Manager, Babu Suraj Prakash Trehan, President of Municipal Committee Hoshiarpur, Sh. Madan Mohan Sood an Advocate and also president of Municipal Committee Hoshiarpur, S. Balwant Singh Khera famous leader of Punjab Primary Teacher’s Union and L.Sahib Ram, Municipal Commissioner.
Other Prominent Citizens Inducted as Members:-
Later on other reputed social workers S.Tara Singh Hundal, Secretary Punjab School Education Board, Late Pt. Mehar Chand, Sh. Hans Raj Nakra, Sh, Harbans Lal Mehta and Sh. Abhinash Rai Khanna, MP (Rajya Sabha) were also taken into L.A.C.
Big Donors:
Smt. Mohan Devi wife of Seth Harnam Das gifted 6 kanal and 7 marlas of land with a few built rooms and old “Shiv Mandir” to the Society. Family Members of Late Sh. Madan Mohan Sood liberally donated good sums of money from time to time for our library and also development of Society Campus. Amongst prominent donors to the Society were Sh. Kuldip Nayyar, ex.MP, Sh. Dharmapal Sabharwal, local ex. MP and Sh. Lajpat Rai, MP have donated large amounts for the school building from their MPLAD funds. Similarly many others included Sh. Arun Shakar, Chief Parliamentary Secretary and Sh. Tikshan Sood, Cabinet Minister Punjab, Late (Dr.) Kewal Krishan, Speaker Punjab Vidhan Sabha and Sh. Baldev Prakash, MLA have given grants from their discretionary funds. Sh. Deepak Puri also got constructed a room for our school in the memory of his late father L.Shadi Lal Puri Brick Kiln Owner. Pt. Vishwa Nath Sharda and his daughter Mrs. Veena Sharma from New Delhi donated liberally for renovation/beautification of “Shree Shiv Mandir” in the Society premises. Brother-in-law and sons of our founder chairman Pt. Durga Dass contributed goodly towards construction of his Memorial Hall in the Society premises.

Presently the Society runs following institutions:-
1. Lajpat Rai Senior Secondary School
Situated at Govt. College Road, Hoshiarpur in its own land/building named as Seth Harnam Dass Satya Pal Bhawan.
2. Lajpat Rai Model School, Garhi Gate, Hoshiarpur. (UP to Middle Standard).

This school was originally started condensed course matric classes for adult and unhappy women. Now the school is functioning upto middle standard in a rented building.
3. Lajpat Rai Public Middle School, Bassi Kalan, Hoshiarpur
Late (Dr.) Dilbag Singh of Village Bassi Kalan (Hoshiarpur) donated his house for the school. The building has been got renovated by the Society.
4. Shri Guru Teg Bahadur Model High School, Sataur, Hoshiarpur.
This school is situated in Village Dharmashala owned by the Village Panchayat. The village panchayat has allowed us to run the school. This was started from Aaganbari and now it is upto High Standard. This building has also been renovated by the Society.
5. Lala Chela Ram Lal Bai Ayurvedic Dispensary.
Nakra family of Hoshiarpur has constructed the building for this dispensary in the premises of this Centre and also have a FD of Rs.1,50,000/- and the interest accrued there form is used for purchase of medicines. Apart from this, liberal donations are also being received from above family to meet the day to day requirements.
6. Babu Suraj Prakash Trehan Clinical Laboratory.
Late Babu Suraj Prakash Trehan was a great social worker. He had also presided over Municipal Committee long time. His sons had donated money to run this clinical laboratory and thereafter they are supporting at present.
